About

Jordan Watton is a writer and director from Sydney, Australia.

His work is marked by striking cinematic visuals and emotionally-charged storytelling. He moves seamlessly between long-form scripted projects and short-form campaigns, bringing a cinematic style to both that is bold and purposeful.

In 2020, Jordan was the winner of Pitch: Isolation, a development initiative from AACTA for his feature film, Local Hero Saves Family, about a volunteer firefighter who will do anything to become a hero in his local town, even if it means lighting the fires himself. As part of the development of the project, Jordan was Director’s Attachment with Nash Edgerton on the third season of FX’s Mr Inbetween. In 2025, Jordan completed his short film Feral, now on the festival circuit. Feral sits within a growing slate of scripted projects that explore themes of identity, masculinity, ambition and the consequences of chasing validation from the outside world.

As a commercial director, Jordan has worked with clients such as Singapore Airlines, Louis Vuitton, Specsavers, Australia Post and Afterpay. His work balances creativity and pragmatism - combining an elevated execution with a resourceful filmmaking approach and a strong understanding of brand messaging. In 2025, he graduated from AWARD School, placing third in NSW, deepening his ability to merge customer insight, brand strategy and striking creative execution.

Jordan is an Aboriginal filmmaker of the Kamilaroi nation. In 2022, he directed History Is Calling, the inaugural campaign for the Uluru Statement from the Heart. He has since contributed culturally-focused work for the Yes campaign and the Fred Hollows Foundation, among others. He is passionate about exploring Indigenous stories and collaborating with fellow First Nations creatives.
